A master's job is
never done, it lives on through the ages.
The annual Installation of Officer's was held in the John E. Good hall and after being installed the Masters first order was for a good time to be had by all. They had dancing and music with song, provided by the children of the High School.
In the January stated meeting, Worshipful Master Galliano, thought we should have a "check book" instead of still having warrants drawn. This way he said, "We would have a record of our transactions, and that this was the way business was now being done." The Secretary was ordered to see what the First National Bank could do for us along these lines. Lively talks were given by three different members on the advantages of electricity, which was at the time in its infancy.
In February a third degree was scheduled, but for some unknown reason, the candidate couldn't be present. So the brethren who showed up for Lodge played bridge and had great discussions on the three degrees of Masonry, after which a nice banquet was served and enjoyed by all. Also the Secretary informed the Lodge of its financial condition and the Lodge was informed that we had about $2,000.00 and suggested we put about $1200.00 to $1500.00 into interest bearing accounts and put the rest in the new Lodge checking account.
In March, discussion was had about moving our meeting night to Thursday nights instead of Friday nights. It was argued that "all of the good parties put on by the various social clubs, which most Mason's were members, were on Friday nights." The only fly in the ointment was that the Italian Club met at Hutchison Hall on Thursday nights and a committee was formed to see if they would mind exchanging meeting nights. Also a big discussion was held on the conduct of the sideliners for snickering, whispering and talking during the degrees. The Master was asked to appoint a coach to assist the brethren from the sidelines.
In May, Past Master C. T. Reyburn, announced that he had gone to the different schools and how pleased he was with the Public School system. He also reported that they were neat and clean and that the teachers along with the scholars had both shown keen interest in their tasks at hand. A ballot was cast in the aforementioned discussion and our meeting nights were changed from Friday to Thursday's.
The late spring months brought on Past Masters night and another Standard Oil Degree Team Night. In July, Mr. Ralph Thomas Enloe, petitioned Clovis Lodge for membership. I mention this only because his son, Ralph Thomas Enloe Junior, is a Past Master of Clovis Lodge, and has to many Masonic Awards and titles to mention, even on the Internet, where we have no constraints of space.
In December, a $20.00 donation was collected from the brethren and donated to the Sciots who were making Christmas Baskets for the needy families in Clovis.
On April 7, 1967 Past Master Julius C. Galliano passed away and was laid to rest on April 11, 1967 after a service at Boice Funeral Home. Kind words spoken were," Bro. Galliano could truly be said to be a good man and a good Mason. The great number of friends attending his service attested to the high regard in which he was held by the community. His faithful service to the Lodge will long be remembered. Another link of the fraternal chain has been severed."
